Change Is Good

To some, September seems to resemble a smaller version of New Years. People around us are going back to school. The season is changing. Vacations are over and we begin to refocus our attention. Chances are, that your fitness regime is going to change as well. Workouts are refocused towards the indoors and goals might be different.

This being said, September is a great time to sit down and re-evaluate your exercise program. Give some attention to your goals and priorities; Are they still the same? Have old ones been met? Has progress been made? Has my lifestyle changed since I set the goals? Are there new variables that were not present before that impact my exercise regime?

Once your goals have been reconsidered, it is a good time to update your program. You may want to have an assessment done by your trainer. You should also be looking at the things you do outside your workout and how they can be improved or adjusted to any new factors in your lifestyle now.

Because your body is constantly adapting to what you do, it is a good idea to have assessments done regularly and have an exercise program that is constantly progressing. If you have a personal trainer they are already taking care of this for you. Your mental focus and lifestyle however, are up to you.

By refocusing your energies and re-evaluating your lifestyle often, you can help accelerate your progress and help your trainer have a better understanding of the dynamics that surround you.  With a team effort, these dynamics can be used positively for better health.

Calorie Counting Tips

With food labels clearer than ever it has become much easier to check the calories on an item to see if you want to eat it. Be weary of items that misrepresent by listing their nutrition information according to a ridiculously small portion. Always check the portion for the calories they list and be ready to multiply that by the amount that you will actually be eating.
