Bathing Suit
Inspirations
It’s that time of year. The
sunshine is beaming down and the temperature is rising. Swimsuits make their way
out of the bottom drawer and the brave first swimsuit fitting of the year is
attempted. It is this experience that often leads people to ask me how they can
loose fat from particular areas of their body.
While the bathing suit seems
to draw attention to certain areas that we would prefer to cut the fat from, the
truth is that we cannot chose where the fat will come from as we burn it. Think
of it this way, did you get to choose where to put it when you gained it? No,
the body will distribute fat according to natural protective mechanisms,
genetics and sometimes lifestyle. In the same respects, the fat will be lost
from your body following a pre-determined pattern. Studies have shown that most
mammals show a similar pattern when loosing fat mass. Typically, the fat in and
around the organs is the first to go. This is great news for your health! Next,
the fat in the neck typically goes, this is usually when it starts to be
visible. Followed by this is the fat in the limbs (usually upper body first) and
the last fat to go is usually the trunk (the area that is usually on the top of
our lists).
The moral of the story here is
that you must be patient, your target area will be reached. The key is to do
lots of calorie burning cardio and change it up so that the muscles underneath
the fat will be challenged equally by the cardio modalities you choose.

Crunches to Burn
the Belly
If you’ve just read the above,
you’ve learned that you can’t burn fat in a certain area by working that area.
It is a popular myth that doing lots of crunches will burn a belly away. What
you must consider is that the “belly” you want to get rid of is fat tissue. This
tissue will burn away by using calories. The best way to burn lots of calories
is to do lots of cardio. The crunches on the other hand will work the abdominal
muscles. This isn’t a bad thing. It might not get rid of the fat on top of your
abs but what it will do is strengthen the abs. So when you do your cardio and
burn away the fat that’s is covering your abs, you’ll have a compact six pack
waiting for you.

Quick
Cardio
If you are pressed for time,
insert intervals of rigorous cardio into your regular regime. You will be able
to make up for volume by increasing intensity.
Stay
Hydrated!
In the summer time, the heat
causes more perspiration than usual. Be sure to put that water back in your
body. It only take 1% dehydration to cause a head-ache!
